GD- Is women empowerment is limited to debates only?

GT- You are a young officer in a PSU and you think you are innovative and new ideas are not heard by senior officers , juniors are also not supporting by thinking that they might be supressed by senior officers in future due to this
So discuss among yoursleves for 10 to 12 min and then arrive at a proper conclusion and somebody conclude it.

1- Tell us about yourself.
2- Why you left your previous job ?
3- Why Public sector why not private sector (lot of cross questions)  ?
4- Positives & negatives of BHEL (Summer training industry) and FAG bearing (Previous employer).
5- Do comparison in terms of productivity.
6- Current year Turnover and Profit of BHEL Jhansi and FAG bearing.
7- What are pressure valve, give some examples of different type of pressure valves
8- If there is high heat build up in gear box, what will you do ?
9- How will you check there is any failure or not since gearbox is completely sealed
( I said, by checking the lubricant temperature then he asked any other parameter)
10- What is 3rd law of termodynamics and its practical application
11- Draw rankine cycle and suggest the methods to increase its efficiency ( I answered, there are total 3 methods : by reducing condenser pressure, by increasing boiler pressure, by superheating of steam in boiler)
12- How superheating is done?

15- What are different business divisions of IOCL .

1: Mobile should be banned in School campus or not

IOCL INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE (AIR-1052)

Venue - Mumbai
Reporting time : 8:30 a.m.

We were given some forms in which we had to fill Name, Registration Number, % of marks in Engineering, GPA to % Conversion Formula, etc.
After that, one HR guy came and presented the PPT regarding work culture ,figures and statistics of IOCL and then we proceeded for document verification.
Document verification took around 20 minutes and in between they distributed light breakfast ( Sandwich + Real fruit juice :P ).

GD,GT and PI was being conducted simultaneously.
My PI round came after the lunch  ( which was again provided by IOCL, that too unlimited :P ) at 3.00 p.m.

INTERVIEW :
Panelists : 6 members (all in their late 40s and 50s )

3. Are you happy with your Gate AIR ?

5. Apne  College project kay baare mai batao hame.

7. Tell us what have you learned in your internship training ?
8. Of what materials are Rails made of ?
9. Where they are made in India ?
10. You have done your training in Railways, why don't you join Railways ?
11. Favourite subjects konse hai ?
12. Why do we need compressor in refrigerator ?
13. Why there's need to increase pressure in Refrigeration ?
14. Tell me about the process used for surface Hardening ?
15. How Nitriding is done ?
16. Suppose we want to use steel at very high temperature, what are the alloying elements you will add and why ?

Interview Duration : 15 minutes.

Immediately after they Interview, coordinators took us for GD,GT round
Number of candidates : 11
Language : Either Hindi or English

GD topic : Should Nationalism be forced ?
Time allowed - 30 mins, 3 mins for jotting down the points , last 2 minutes for conclusion.
We didn't create a fish market and everyone got the chance to speak at least twice.

GT Topic : List down the qualities of a good Team Leader.
Time alloted - 30 minutes.

Considering my Rank I have zero chances to get selected, but overall it was a good Experience.

IOCL INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE -2

I would like to share my IOCL Interview Experience.
My GATE rank is 650.

I am from Mechanical background. Interview was in mumbai on 1st June.
First, the interview was conducted for some candidates.
They asked me following questions:
Are ready to leave your hometown?
Did you do any coaching?
Tell us something you haven't written on your CV?
Family background?
Will you be willing to work in any location? They asked me questions on industrial training only, not from my project.

Technical questions were asked from Material Science: Stainless steel, iron carbon diagram.

Panel consisted of 5 members.
Then GD and GT was conducted.
Enough time was given to speak. (25min. For GD and GT)

GD: Discipline and National character differentiates us from first world countries.

GT: How to make higher education in India more inclusive.

(I am from Pataudi ; so discussed about Saif Ali khan )

Q6. What are the various refrigerants used in RAC ?

Q10. Explain nomenclature of electrode.
(They now offered a glass of lassi ; about 0.5 litre
I drank it in one shot
They started smiling and said *ye pakka haryana ka desi baccha hai*)
Q11. Which IOCl refinery is there in Haryana ?
Q12. Name some refineries of IOCL ?
Q13. What is surface tension ?
Q14. Do you have any department or location preferences ?
I answered all questions Panel was in good mood

GD topic : It is not always hardwork that take you to success rather destiny plays role in it.
GT topic : To promote indian culture , traditional music and art what will be your strategy.

IOCL INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE

IOCL Interview Experience of selected students based on GATE 2017 score.

I was interviewed at IOCL's IIPM (IndianOil Institute of Petroleum Management) Gurgaon on 19th June, 2017.

GD Choices-
1. The state of Indian Engineering Education scene due to opening of way too many colleges.
2. Should 0% Interest loans be provided to Farmers in today's times of farmer unrest.

GT (Group Task) - 

Only two IITs have made it to the Top 200 rankings of World's Best Institutes. As directors of various IITs, find a solution to make sure that not just two but many more IITs could crack the Top 100 rankings.

The GD/GT Panel seemed uninterested, hardly even looking at which candidate is even speaking at GD. Payed a little more attention during GT to notice if we were interacting or not.

Interview- 

Panel consisted of Five Members-
1. Tell me about yourself.
According to my answer from there-
2. What you did after job ?
3. Would it not have been possible to do along with job ?
4. Best achievement while being at job ?
5. Describe in detail the CSR activity you mentioned.
( because of my job at Automobile Company ).
6. BS-3, BS-4, BS-6 Changes in fuel and changes in vehicles design.
7. Is Indian automobile market ready for them?
8. Crankshaft Material and manufacturing and why exactly?
9. CRDI and it's effect for a common man.
10. Welding Vs Brazing.
11. Bearings in IC engine.
12. Give brief description about IOCL major businesses.
13. Do you know how many refineries we have?
14. What is our petrochemical brand name and it's products?

The panel was very senior and yet very very humble and friendly.
They listened to each and every answer with at most attention, allowed me to answer with however much time I needed and placed counter questions only after I had finished my part.

After answering over dozen of questions over half an hour, the most senior of them, asked if anyone wants to ask any more (in a comic way) and we all laughed.

Finally, HR mam asked last question-
15. Which was the gas responsible for Bhopal Gas Tragedy and the company name? (because of my college was in Bhopal).

With the final answer, I was allowed to leave.

IOCL Interview Feedback

Interview happened at IIPM Gurgaon.

GD- Should death plenty be banned or not ?

GT- U have to promote Pradhan Mantri Ujvala Yojna in remote areas of our country and for this list the problems you may face during this project and u will rectify them.

Interview- 4 members total.

1. Tell me about yourself which is not written in these forms in front of me.
2. What is coefficient of restitution.
3. What is Black hole ?
4. What is black body ?
5. What is differential and what is its purpose. Do we have 2 differential in 4 wheel drive.
6. What is blanking ?
7. What is the efficiency of a thread? what is the efficiency of screw jack?
8. What is coupling and what it is used for and list some of its examples.
9. What is camber
10. Let you are shift in-charge at your shop floor and some contractor worker slapped on permanent worker and due to this all the permanent workers went outside the factory and decided not to work. What you will do in this situation?

By reading all this you might think that I told them automobile or physics is my area of interest but trust me neither I had written in my CV nor I told them regarding this.I don't know why they were so much focused on automobile.

Actually they have a set of questions written on a page and they will ask you from those papers only unless you have some work experience.
So prepare your mind as they can ask you anything,even out of your domain.
